CASEY POWELL NAMED NLL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

March 03, 2010

Orlando Titans forward Casey Powell was named the National Lacrosse League's Overall Player of the Week for Week #8 of the season. Powell led the charge for the Titans by scoring four goals and adding four assists in Orlando's 16-12 win at Toronto. The win moved the Titans (4-2) ahead of Toronto and into first place in the Eastern Division by percentage points. For his efforts, Powell also earned Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Week #8 NLL schedule consisted of games played on the weekend of February 27.

Powell's teammate, Titans Goaltender Matt Vinc was named Defensive Player of the Week. In the 16-12 win at Toronto, Vinc made 52 saves on 63 shots faced. He allowed 11 goals, with a 12th goal scored while the Titans had an empty net. The honor is Vinc's second of the season.

The Transition Player of the Week was Geoff Snider of the Philadelphia Wings. Snider had a busy night against the Buffalo Bandits last Saturday, scoring one goal and tallying four assists. He also scooped up 16 loose balls and won 26 of his 29 faceoffs en route to a 15-11 win at Buffalo.

Colorado Mammoth Forward Alex Gajic was named Rookie of the Week. Gajic joined a balanced Mammoth attack as he scored three goals and added an assist; the Mammoth lost to Minnesota, 13-12.

The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by a vote of the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league's eleven member clubs.
