What is USA Indoor Lacrosse?

Founded in 2006 as a company for the sport of lacrosse in the United States, US Indoor Lacrosse (USIL) is an organization that promotes the culture of indoor lacrosse by creating opportunities for lacrosse players, teams, coaches and referees of all backgrounds to participate and advance in the sport, through international and National events, clubs and education. As a Founding Member Nation of International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL) USIL represents the United States at the World Junior Lacrosse Championship (WJLC) and all other IIJL events.

What is the USA Indoor Junior Lacrosse Program?

The US Indoor Lacrosse (USIL) USA Indoor Junior Lacrosse Program is a pathway for junior players to enter into the USIL National Development Program (NDP)and possibly a USA Indoor Junior Team. Once the player enters into the USIL NDP it allows the player exposure to elite athletes nationwide allowing a greater path to elite competition, training and development. The Development of the USA Junior Indoor Program is the building block for the success of a players future. We are very proud for administering the first United States National Junior Indoor Teams in Indoor Lacrosse.

How do I become a part of USA Indoor Junior Lacrosse Team?

US Indoor Lacrosse has three USA Indoor Junior level programs -U15, U17 and U20, the development teams create the primary path to senior national teams and professional teams (NLL & PLL). The first step is to register for a tryout nearest you.

How old do I need to be to participate?

To be eligible for a USA Indoor Junior Lacrosse Team, individuals must be:

U20 | Ages 18-20 | Players who are turning 18-20 in Championship year

U17 | Ages 16-17 | Players who are turning 16-17 in Championship year

U15 | Ages 14-15 | Players who are turning 14-15 in Championship year

What happens if my age doesn't line up with the eligibility of my desired team?

If you have aged out you will be placed in the next level program

What is the whole process?

The USA Junior Indoor Lacrosse Program is an annual program with 4 stages, it starts with an application and registration, followed by an invite to an invite only training camp, final camp and ultimately being selected for a USA Indoor Team - U16, U18, U21M or U21W.

Stage 1: US Indoor Lacrosse will extend an invite to top tier players for each level, alternately players can also apply to be evaluated and invited to next stage.

Stage 2: US Indoor Lacrosse Coaches will train and evaluate each player during the invite only training camp / combine. The camp will be a multi-day event where USA Coaches will train and evalaute the players. Players will be selected to proceed to the next stage. Some players will be released from the process.

Stage 3: US Indoor Lacrosse Coaches will train and evaluate players during the Final training camp. The camp will be a multi-day event where USA Coaches will train and evalaute the players. Players will be selected to proceed to the next stage. Some players will be released from the process.

Stage 4: US Indoor Lacrosse and Team USA Coaches will select 23 Players and 2 reserve players for the USA Indoor Lacrosse Teams from the individual USA Indoor Team Final Camps - The USA Indoor Lacrosse Team will compete in the IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship, World Women's Junior Lacrosse Championship, World U18 Lacrosse Championship and World U16 Lacrosse Championship each year.

What can I expect at a tryout?

IF US Indoor Lacrosse conducts a tryout, the tryout is a rigorous 2 hour event. Tryouts consist of Box Lacrosse drills specific to the USA Program followed by Team Scrimmage. Having the right protective gear is critical; box kidney and bicep pads are a recommended. Arm protection should provide full coverage, no small elbow pads. Players can wear a field style or box lacrosse helmet with a mouthpiece. Make sure the right equipment for the tryouts and the equipment being used is in perfect order.

What happens at the USA Indoor Lacrosse Traing Camp?

During the USA Indoor Lacrosse training camps, players will be taken through elite training individually and team development. Athletes will work on their strength and conditioning during the sessions along with team building activities. Athletes will be living, breathing and sleeping USA Indoor Lacrosse for several days.

What can I expect if I make the USA Indoor Lacrosse Team

It is the highest priority of US Indoor Lacrosse to provide the athletes the most incredible experience of their lives, they will leave the team with an understanding of the USA Indoor Lacrosse culture, pride and how it is to be treated at the highest level. The competition they will face will be unparalled anywhere - they will compete at the highest level for their age.

What if a player cannot attend a Camp / Combine due to a scheduling conflict or injury?

The USIL staff understands that players have a variety of obligations. During the selection process communication is important and valued by USIL staff. If a player can not attend a Camp or Combine and the player communicates the conflict with USIL staff, the player will remain in consideration over the course of our Evaluation Period leading up to the current year's World Junior Lacrosse Championship and other IIJL events, provided that the player has been fully registered for all previous stages during the process.

What happens if I'm not selected?

If a player is not selected they will receive notice releasing them from the present years program. USIL evalators and Coaches will be happy to talk with the player to help improve for future success. The player that is released is eligible for the next years program.
